The latest reportys emerging from England and Netherlands suggest, Barcelona is close to complete the signing of their high priority target Matthijs de Ligt very soon.

In my last article I wrote 'Why Barcelona should make De Ligt signing top Priority?', and within 24 hours of that going live, it appears things have turned decisively in favor of Barcelona. The latest reports emerging from England suggest that Liverpool may no longer be interested in securing the Dutch youngster's service.

That is good news for Barcelona as there is one less competition. Now Barcelona will try to lure him back as one of his suitors have dropped, but at the same time will use De Jong to bring the Dutch to Barcelona.

De Ligt has his reservations regarding joining Barcelona. the top of that list has to be the guarantee of playing time. Van Dijk's presence in Liverpool was a serious attraction provided he was guaranteed playing time. But the latest reports from England suggest that Klopp doesn't see a need for another Center-Back.

Barcelona currently also don't need one, but De Ligt is too precious to overlook. He could be the leader of the pack in the future. Valverde or any new coach needs to be extra innovative in dealing with the center back situation now. With his arrival, we will have four good center backs fighting for the spot. The natural solution would be to switch to three-man midfield.

If the rumored €75 Million price tag holds good, then Barcelona would have done exceptional business considering the age and quality of the play. At 19 he still has years left in his career and has not yet hit the prime, and that is quite an enticing prospect. Despite Liverpool dropping out, there could be more suitors coming, but Barcelona looks like is in prime position to secure the signing.
