FC Barcelona - 4, Valencia - 1
FC Barcelona cut the lead at the top back to ten points with a brilliant 5-1 win against Valencia. Unai Emery's side has always made Barca struggle, but this was completely different. Even though it didn't start well conceding a goal early, but after that it was total domination. We had 27 shots off 13 were at goal. It took some casual finishing and some brilliant Alves goal keeping to keep the scoreline at 5-1. Pablo Piatti scored Valencia's first, we responded through Messi scoring four and Xavi scoring one in the injury time. It looked like the players were simply tired off the tough matches against Valencia and decided to end it with a brilliant performance. We started the match 13 points behind Real Madrid and Valencia was eight point behind us. Both Mascherano and Alves were suspended for this encounter. The line-up selected by Guardiola for the encounter was Valdes, Montoya, Pique, Puyol, Abidal, Busquets, Iniesta, Fabregas, Messi, Sanchez and Pedro.

Barca - 3, Bayern Leverkusen - 0
FC Barcelona has virtually assured themselves off a Quarter Final birth in this Season's Champions League competition with a 3-1 away victory against Bayern Leverkusen. This is the first time Guardiola has managed to win an away leg of the last 16 knock out stage in Champions League. Two goals from Sanchez and one from Messi was enough for Barca to see the German side off at their home. With a two goal cushion and also the added advantage of having scored three away goals, Barca has almost qualified for the next stage; but it's better to remember that it's not over until the second leg at home is finished. Guardiola as expected lined up the best available eleven. So we had Valdes in goal, Alves, Mascherano, Puyol and Abidal in defense. Busquest, Iniesta and Fabregas made the midfield. Adriano, Sanchez and Messi made the front trio. Xavi was rested after he had a slight problem with his calf.

Barca - 2, Osasuna - 3
FC Barcelona would belooking at a huge 10 point deficit with League leaders Real Madrid by the end of tomorrow night after going down 3-2 against osasuna. If the Villareal draw had put a huge blow to Barca's title hopes, then this defat at Pamplona virtually ends the league hopes. If Real madrid win against Levante at home tomorrow, the lead at the top will climb to a huge 10 points. Considering our away form, by the time Real Madrid visit Camp Nou, there is a high chance that it will end up becoming much bigger. Now Barcelona has to win all our matches to avoid giving Real Madrid the dreadful Guard of Honour. In a very windy and chilly night, Guardiola once again decided to start Xavi from the bench and the midfield had a completely different look with Sergi Roberto, Thiago and Mascherano. The front trio had Pedro, Messi and Sanchez. The defense had the usual look of Alves, Puyol, Pique and Abidal with Valdes in goal.

FC Barcelona seal Place in Copa Del Rey Final; FC Barcelona -2, Valencia - 0
FC Barcelona booked their place in the Copa Del Rey final with a 2-0 victory against Valencia at Camp Nou. Goals from Cesc Fabregas and Xavi gave Barca a bit of nervous victory. Now the final will be against Atletic Bilbao, between the two most successful teams in the Copa Del Rey history. It will be kind of a re-match of the 2008-09 Copa Del rey final which we won, hopefully we this one also. Barcelona carried the advantage of the away goal into the match, but a scoreline of 1-1 was very difficult to defend. A victory was the only way we would go through and we exactly just did. Guardiola decided to start Alves from the bench once again like in the first leg. Pinto came back in goal. Pique, Puyol, Mascherano and Abidal formed the four man defense. Thiago, Xavi and Fabregas made the three man midfield. Cuenca, Messia and Sanchez made the front trio.

FC Barcelona wins Laureus World Team of the Year Award
FC Barcelona was adjudged the World Team of the Year by the Laueres Award comittee, in a grand ceremony held in London. This is the first time FC Barcelona is winning the prestigous award, which in some circles is called "The Osacr of Sporting World". Club president Sandro Rosell received the award for Barca. Two Barcelona players who were in contention for individual honours in the night unfortunately lost out. Lionel Messi, lost out to Novan Djokovic in the World Sportsman of the Year category. The Serbian Tennis No.1, Novan Djokovic now join an esteemed list of Sportsmen, Roger Federer , Tiger Woods, Michael Schumacher, Usain Bolt, Lance Armstrong and Rafael Nadal who all have previously won this award. Many Barca fans believed that Messi will win it this year and seems to have been disappointed big time. But I have predicted this earlier - The Farce called Laueres Award, it was clear from the start that Messi will not win this one. We football fans will be lucky if we see atleast one from the footballing world win this award in our life time.

Barca - 1, Valencia - 1; Copa Del Rey Semi-Final First leg ends in Draw
FC Barcelona took a good step towards proceeding to Copa Del Rey final with a 1-1 draw at Mestella. Considering how tough we have found recently in Valencia, this draw is as good as a win - especially because of the away goal. In the 27th minute Jonas put Valencia ahead, but Carles Puyol equalised for Barca in the 36th minute. It was a on-off perfromance from barca. To be fair, Valencia was the better of the two team in overall play, but we were able to create more scoring chances - but we never took any of that. We were anyway lucky not to have Pinto seen a red card for handling the ball outside the box. Lionel Messi continued with his goal scoring drought(three match is not a big deal) , missing a penalty in the match. Now with the away leg over, we have to finish the job at home. Pinto as in all Copa games occupied his position under the bar. Pique, Mascherano, Puyol and Abidal formed the defense. Thiago, Busquets and Fabregas made up the midfield. Cuenca, Messi and Sanchez formed the attacking trio.
