There is sizeable interest among First League clubs for the securing the service of upcoming Barcelona star, Alex Collado. But Barcelona cannot afford not to have in the rank for the rest of the season.
One of the positives from Barcelona's 2-0 defeat at the Mestalla against Valencia would have been the opportunity to see the youngster, Alex Collado in action. The youngster was full of life despite the limited time, something which was extremely lacking in the match.
The latest news as reported by Sport suggests that the relegation fighting Real Mallorca is very much interested in securing the youngster's service for the rest of the season. Let's look at the reason why Barcelona should not even consider such an offer.
1. Alex Collado can Play in both Wing and Midfield
Alex Collado by nature is a much more attack-minded midfielder compared to every other midfielder from the B team. His added advantage is the ability to play on the right win as securely as he does in the midfield. And this guy definitely has got some skills.
2. Barcelona is Short-Changed for Options in Midfield
Having already loaned out Carles Aleñá and going to sell Carlez Perez, Barcelona have very limited choices if any of the main players are down with an injury. The likes of Alex Collado and Rique Puig could be very much instrumental in deciding Barcelona's fate of the season. The midfield is quite a tricky place. Currently the likes of Arthur, De Jong, Rakitic and Vidal seem enough.
But an injury to anyone of them or two, suddenly Barcelona could be struggling for options. Alex Collado looks like someone who is ready to adapt to Setien's way of playing. That surely going to help.
3. Setien has Confidence in the Kid
It was a surprise to see, Alex Collado coming into the side for the Valencia fixture. He was part of the rotation Setien want to have, with prospects from B team training and playing with the first team. After the match, there are reports suggesting that Setien was impressed by what he saw from Collado. The Coach has expressed his wish to use him furthermore in the future.
This could very much be the break-out year for Alex Collado!
