It's still early days in Tata Martino's managerial episode at Barca. Yesterday he over saw his first practice session including most of the Barca players. It was clear from past experience that he would be interested in to hear from players. It's expected that the coach will have one on one meeting with all players; even Dos Santos has put his transfer talk on hold till that completes. There were early expectation that Martino will bring Santiago Vergini as a center choice back up along with him. Now it seems it may not happen like that. Martino has clarified to the management that Santiago Vergini is only his emergency option and the club will be free to sign any defender. If the club fails then he may look up to the Argentinie to fill up the position. This development may have taken place after he had a detailed discussion with Zubi about the progress of different transfer options available to the club. In other words it could also mean that the Sporting Director is confident of bagging David Luiz from Chelsea before the end of the transfer window.

It was always difficult for us to get hold fo David Luiz from Chelsea;now it looks like it could become much tougher courtesy of Pep Guardiola. English tabloid, Daily Mail has reported that Guardiola is interested in signing the Brazilian and Bayern is preparing a 40 Million Pound offer. Now the new was first broke by Daily Mail, so don't ask me about it's authenticity; you be your own judge. The chances of this being a ploy to sell more editions cannot be ruled out; even though the defeat against Borrusia in Super Cup may have Guardiola a bit worried. Now a more trustworthy source Mundo Deportivo (more compared to SPORT and Daily Mail) says that Barca could be looking at Agger, Kompany, Vertonghen and Vermaelen as alternative to David Luiz. I have to admit that I was never a huge fan of David Luiz, but that list of alternatives make Luiz look really good. Lats season was not any great for Kompany or Agger; as far as Vermaelen is concerned. why do we want one more guy who could spend more time in medical room than dressing room? Don't worry SPORT is also saying that David Luiz deal could happen anytime this week. Didn't they had Rooney and Thiago Silva also shipped to Barca?
