Oct 31, 2018

The way October has turned up, surprised everyone! Especially people like myself, who predicted a tough October looking at our September form. But the team surprised us all, winning most of the challenges in October. And they did the most with Messi out and the scary international break in between, sweeten the results much further. If we discard the hiccup against Valencia, the month was near perfect for Barcelona Football Club.

In October, we had to face Tottenham, Valencia, Sevilla, Inter, and Real Madrid. The month hasn't ended officially and we will be facing Leonesa in Copa Del Rey round of 32, 1st Leg tonight. In the end, we look pretty comfortable with four really tough wins and one draw, with one match yet to play. The most positive factor has to be the number of goals scored, which stands at 16 goals against six conceded.

The icing of the month has to be Barca's 5-1 thrashing of Real Madrid at Camp Nou. In comparison to October, November looks a bit easier but the biggest problem is the number of away matches we have to play. In November Barcelona will be playing only once at home, against Real Betis.

October Starts with an easy away match against Rayo Vallecano

Away matches have been a problem for Barca recently, but this one should not evoke much fear. If we can't win properly against the 19th placed team in the League, then we need to re-assess our ambitions. Barcelona has been on a roll recently and Rayo could pay heavily when the Catalans come visiting.

Up next will be the visit to Milan to face Inter Milan, in what I would describe will be a boring match. Remember with Tottenham failing to win, both the sides will be looking for a point out of the match. And there could be a serious lack of ambitions when they meet each other at San Siro. Following that, Barcelona will play their only game at home of the month against Real Betis and then the international Break begins.

It's all about Lionel Messi after the International Break

The entire focus will be on Lionel Messi when we travel to Madrid to face Atletico Madrid after the break. This is the game in which Messi is expected to return after his injury. That will be worth the wait. It also could be a match between the first and second placed team in the League.

After that we travel to Eindhoven to play PSV in the penultimate Group Stage match of Champions League. That match will be all about securing the top spot in the group. Compared to October, November matches are a bit easier, but the fact that most of them are away encounters make it quite interesting.
