FC Barcalona continued with their excellent start to the season with a 2-0 victory away at the Coliseum Alfonso stadium in Getafe. Goals from Ibrahmovic and Messi took Barca to a not so convincing victory against a tough Getafe side. This victory has taken us to the top of the table and we will be looking to hold onto that top spot no matter what. I may not have predicted the scoreline correctly but I did predict that Ibrahmovic will score in this game; so I got some predictions right. This game was not the most beautiful by any means but this victory will mean a lot in the context of the season. We had developed this habit of dropping points after a international break especially away from home in the last couple of seasons. Taking that into consideration this three point will be very valuable. Guardiola decided to rest many of his international stars. Valdes started in the goal. Puyol, Txigrinski , Pique and Abidal formed the defense. As expected Toure partnered with Xavi and Keita in the middle. The front line was a bit of surprise with Pedro and Jeffren partnering Ibrahmovic.

In the first half Barca players remained as spectator. NMost of tghe good moves or half chances were created by Getafe. Ibra failed to link with the youngsters on his side. There was no rhythm in the side's movement. In the 12th minute Getafe went close scoring when Albin's spectacular volley hit the crossbar. In the 29th minute Soldado's overhead effort from a Pedro cross hit the left post. In the 30th minute Barca had their first decent effort on goal when a long range shot from keita went just wide. In the 40th minute Xavi saw his effort from outside box comfortably held by the goal keeper. In the 43rd minute Barca wasted their best chance of the first half. Ibrahmovic did admirably well to control the ball between the central defenders from a Jeffren cross and with only the goal keeper to beat struck the ball close to him. In the 58th minute we brought in Messi and Iniesta for Jeffren and Pedro respectively. These substitution changed the course of the match rapidly. In the 59th minute Xavi saw his spectacular volley tipped over by goal keeper. In the 66th minute Barca broke the deadlock through Ibrahmovic. Messi played the ball to Abidal on the left; the defense failed to deal with Abidal's low cross and Ibra only had to divert it to the far corner. Then Barca doubled the lead in the 80th minute through Messi. Ibrahmovic controlled Alves' cross with his chest and put the ball straight on Messi's head who made no mistake with his header.

As I mentioned earlier this was no sepctacular result. But we did grind this result out with a bit of luck. Getafe did had their chances but never took it. Real Madrid inspired by Kaka won at Espanyol and right now lies tied with us on the table. Kaka acould be a headache to deal with in Madrid. But the way the season has started, it is clear the matches against Real Madrid, Valencia, Villareal, Sevilla and A.Madrid will be the ones which will decide the season. On the performance part we had some good performance through out the pitch. Txigrinski made an impressive debut and partnered well with Pique in the middle. Abidal did well on the left and looks like the competition from Maxwell is pushing him to do his best. Toure wasn't at his best. Xavi and Ibrahmovic both were quiet in first half but were really impressive in the second, especially Xavi. Iniesta looked ok in his return to football after such long time.
