The French striker joins his former club in a deal which is currently marked as a loan, but in effect is a transfer as there is an obligatory buy clause in the next summer. Does it indicate Atletci will be letting go of Saurex next summer?

There was a bit of bewilderment when I heard first of the deal involving the loaning out of Griezmann to Atletico Madrid by FC Barcelona. With the mandatory buy clause inserted, this was in effect a transfer camouflaged as a loan deal. But once you take to digest the news, slowly things will start to fall in place.

The biggest concern for me was why Atletic was agreeing to this deal? The fact that we will be strengthening Atletico ( who for the first time in history have become the favourite to retain their La Liga title ) never bothered me. Such is the mess we are in financially. Atletico will be paying his full salary, that's the only thing that mattered.

A mouth watering contest between FC Barcelona and PSG awaits everyone in the next round of UEFA Champions League competition. PSG will start favourite in the tie, courtesy of playing the second leg at home and Barcelona's poor season so far.

PSG is not flying in full cylinders so far this seaosn. So Barcelona definitely have a chnace. But a lot will depend on whether Koeman remains in charge. With the Dutchman in charge, we may not have any hope!

The 'Game of Throne' episode at Barcelona took a turn for the worst with open rebellion from members of the Board. This was inevitable, but just got delayed!

If you thought that things can't get any worse in Barcelona, then you were given a rude awakening with the latest saga. Yesterday six Barcelona Board members resigned over indifference over the way Bartomeu is handling Club affairs. Emili Rousaud, Enrique Tombas, Silvio Elias, Josep Pont, Maria Teixidor and Jordi Calsamiglia were the members who tendered their resignation.

Ironically this came on the very day when the world held services commemorating the remembrance of the crucifixion of Christ. Bartomeu and his fellow Board members have been crucifying the club's image and the present and indeed the future!

Lionel Messi became the first player from a team sport to win the prestigous Laureus Award, often dubbed as the Oscars of the Sporting World.

Lionel Messi, Captain of Barcelona became the first player from a team sport to win the Prestigious Laureus Sportsman of the Year Award. He shared the award with Formula One Champion, Lewis Hamilton. The very fact that he was able to hold his fort along with Hamilton, makes it's quite an achievement.

This is sixth time lucky for Lionel Messi who was nominated five times before this year. Coming from a Team Sport, it becomes extremely difficult to win the award as the individual sports players have an unfair advantage. Laureus has always been considered as being unfair to Team Sports!

Barcelona fans can rest easy having entrusted the reins of the team in the hands of Quique Setién. This has to be the biggest message that came out of Barcelona's 5-0 victory over Leganes. Two consecutive bad results against Ibiza and Valencia have raised a lot of questions about whether Barcelona has made the right choice with their manager.

Last night result should have silenced all the doubters and critics at least for a day. Why I say a day because they all are going to come with twice the force from tomorrow. Barcelona playing well creates a strange kind of fear among detractors and opposition fans. So What are the biggest takeaways from this match?

Jan 30, 2020

Reading between the lines on Setién's comment about Barcelona search for a striker, it is clear that the Manager have very little confidence on the club pulling this off.

Barcelona's pursuit for a striker is turning to be a big joke in footballing circles, as usual. Gone are those days, when Barcelona goes and gets things done. Now under this management, we make a huge amount of noise and get done absolutely nothing.

Under Laporta, we used to get to know of signings when the club is almost sure of on-boarding the player. Nowadays, I guess we don't do things like that. Even before our Sporting Director is thinking, the reports are leaked to the Catalan media, who plays it up, drives the cost up and technology makes it difficult to get stuff done.

It's more or less official, Barcelona will not be able to sign Rodrigo in this winter market from Valencia. The talks between the two clubs have collapsed because of the high price tag associated.

Till last evening there were hopes of salvaging this deal, but now it appears completely dead and buried. This has become a pattern of late with our management. Now Barcelona needs to find a replacement as quickly as possible. Will they be able to?

Jan 28, 2020

True to the nature of every Transfer window, especially when it's coming to an end, too many things are happening at a frantic pace. The supposed Rodrigo deal may not happen, the youngster Carles Pérez may still continue and a number of players other than these could move out also.

There is no dearth of news surrounding Barcelona. Who all could be linked in for a move in next? Maybe a move-out!

  • Lionel Messi scored the opening two goals for Argentina against Nigeria.
  • Messi has now equalled Maradona's feat of scoring four consecutive goals for his country.
Sensational Lionel Messi helps Argentina Top the Group
A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way John C. Maxwell

They said he is crap as he can't score at the international stage with his country. Once he started doing that, they said he still is crap, since he has only scored once in the World Cup. I am not sure what will be their excuse this time around. But trust me they will find some odd statistics to say he still is crap. "He has not yet scored with his head in a World Cup" could be the ideal line for defense of Lionel Messi haters; don't worry you will most probably here it soon. For those who followed him closely, which most the entire world does; this is not any surprise. He always has done one thing - score goals and tons of them. So Argentina has scored 5 goals in the tournament so far, not surprisingly four of them came from one player - Lionel Messi. The likes of Lavezzi, Aguero, Higuain, Di Maria all are yet to find the net, but no one is worried about that. Messi is scoring for all of them for the time being. Like Barca may Argentina is also realising slowly that you can't escape Messidependencia, not that they are complaining!
