From the outset, PSG’s relentless pressing disrupted Barcelona’s rhythm, leaving Hansi Flick’s men struggling for composure. Any hopes of asserting superiority evaporated quickly, as the hosts looked unsettled whenever PSG launched swift counter-attacks. The team’s reliance on 16-year-old Lamine Yamal for creativity was striking, with much of the attack funneled through him in a manner uncomfortably reminiscent of the Messi years. Though Yamal showed flashes of brilliance, PSG’s defense stood firm under his repeated probing.
While it remains early in the season, such shortcomings cannot be ignored. Barcelona’s frailty at the back, combined with their imbalance in midfield, leaves Flick with urgent questions about his best formation and starting XI. For now, it is back to the drawing board for the German coach, as Barcelona chase competitiveness on the European stage.
