He is a genius. What he does with a football at times is beyond belief. What he did to Jerome Boateng for the second goal was almost illegal. Former Liverpool star Jamie Redknapp

Highlights Video of last night's 3-0 destruction of Bayern Munich by Barca.

  • Lionel Messi scored twice and assisted the other goal in 3-0 victory against Bayern Munich.
  • Victory against Bayern Munich almost put Barca in to the Finals

I ran across the living room, struggling to keep my voice down, kept runinng in circles and circles; just to digest what I witnessed in the second goal Messi scored. To be fair, like Luis Enrique said he don't surprise us much. Whatever he does is pretty ussual for him, he has done the dink over the keeper a hundred time in the past. But this felt different and there is some real good reason behind that too. Will come to that later! So, what happened! In a match which was billed as the clash between the top two sides in Europe - One guy emerged as the king maker scoring two goals and creating another. A 3-0 scoreline in favour of Barca was something of a wish for Cules for sometime; but I am pretty sure that none of us never said that out loud. If you had done that, I am pretty sure questions might have been raised about your mental health by now. The match went goalless till the 77th minute, when all of a sudden Lionel Messi decided to show why on Earth he is "The Best Player in the World".

It is not in the stars to hold our destiny but in ourselves. William Shakespeare

Luis Enrique, the ex-Barca player and the current coach would definitely be a bit nervous coming going in to tomorrow's clash against Bayern Munich at the Camp Nou. With the full crowd support plus a team where the three strikers have not only gelled well, but also scoring tons for fun between them; usually that calls for a confident or may be an over-confident manager. But that won't be the case tomorrow. Luis Enrique will be nervous, regardless of the offensive powers on his arsenal - that's because he knows clearly that this clash will define his legacy as a manager at Barca. Barca currently is very much in fight for all the three available trophies this season, any coach who does that especially so late in the season is entitled to call it a successful stint; but Luis knows clearly that this tie is the match on which everything matters. He won't lose his job or credibility if he fails here; but he will know clearly that a failure here will see Guardiola's legacy hanging over his head like a Damocles sword for the rest of his Barca career. Succeed here, he would kick the legacy of Guardiola out of Barca, at least of his tenure and write his name with the golden ink.

If there is one weakness in Messi's game recently, it is with Penalty kicks. But last night he dispatched one with absolute contempt. Watch the video.

All the actions and Goals from FC Barcelona's 6-0 victory over Getafe at the Camp Nou on 28th April 2015

Barcelona Football Club was at their very best last night against a hapless Getafe hitting them for half a dozen goals at the Camp Nou. With just four matches to go, Barca have their sights firmly set on the League trophy. Even though they have a clash with Atletico Madrid in the penultimate week, we could expect them to get the job done. Of the remaining match the Atletico Match looks tough for our boys. The rest we should be able to easily negotiate. Real Madrid who is currently lying five points behind will be facing Sevilla away from home and Valencia at home and also Espanyol away from home in their last five matches. Unless we screw this up this League trophy is definitely coming to Barcelona. The performance from the team were simply sensational- the pressing, the inter play, the goals all were out of the world. And once more Luis Saurez was the star of the match with two absolutely brilliant finishes.

As widely expected FC Barcelona made short work of French Champions Paris Saint-Germain F.C with a routine 2-0 victory at the Camp Nou. Two well taken strike from Brazilian Neymar completed the formalities; and it was mere formalities after a 3-1 victory in Paris last week. After seeing off PSG Barca now joins ex-Coach Guardiola managed Bayern Munich in the semi-final. The rest of the participants will come from tonight's equally poised semi-final and would be either one of Atletico Madrid or Real Madrid and Juventus or Monaco. With this success Barca have once again made it to the semi-final after going out at this stage last season against Atletico Madrid.

All eyes will be on Paris tonight when FC BARCELONA takes on PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN FC at the Parc des Princes stadium. Without any doubt the Quarter-Final ties involving Spanish sides - FC Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid are the pick of the lot in this season's Quarter-Final line-up. This clash is also between two sides who are on top of their respective league table, funny enough they both reached there after a bit of struggle. The similarity in this season doesn't end there. Both their leagues are usually known to be strictly two horse legs but this season these two are the most keenly fought leagues in Europe. Spanish League has become a three horse race with all three Quarter-Final participants fighting for the coveted trophy. Meanwhile without any doubt French League is where we seeing the toughest battle with four teams separated from each other by a mere point. Funny enough, the so called "Best League in the World" has become a one horse race and don't have a single team in the late stages of Champions League or Europa League.

It's not what happens to you, but how you react to it that matters. Epictetus

A draw at one of the toughest grounds in Spain can never be claimed as stumbling/setback, especially if the Home team has never been defeated not even once this season there. But still to throw away a 2-0 lead especially with the La Liga title in the balance could prove to be really scary when the season ends. Before this match, every football pundits have identified Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán as the place where both FC Barcelona and Real Madrid could end up dropping points. In that background, the two points lost after leading 2-0 does feel like a loss in some way. Had we won the pressure on Real Madrid (who are currently two points behind Barca ) would have been enormous. Every team has struggled away at Sevilla in recent times, but Barca in recent times have managed to successfully decode the key to success at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán . Prior to this draw the last time Barca dropped points here was in the 2011-12 season.

All the events and key moments from Barca's 2-1 victory over Real Madrid at the Camp Nou.

Lionel Messi brilliant nutmeg on Toni Kroos in yesternight's Clasico.

Saurez couldn't have chosen a more appropriate moment to justify the huge 80 Million price tag which brought him to FC Barcelona. If he was capable of something like this, this was the perfect moment to showcase; and showcase he did. The strike not only gave the vital lead in a tightly balanced game, where at time Barca were fighting for survival; it turned the table also. If Barca were struggling for survival before that strike then after it Real Madrid we trying desperately not to get over run by. Now with a vital 3 points that too in this late stage we move to four point lead on top with just ten matches left. Even though Real Madrid have the advantage in terms of being ahead in the head to head account in terms of goal; the four point advantage will make them more desperate and may give us a bit more cushion. The way this match turned on its head against them may even take the lives out of their season, especially being set to meet Atletico Madrid in UEFA Champions League in coming month. To summarize the match, we went ahead against the run of play in the first half with a brilliant Mathieu header from a Messi free kick; yes you heard it right from a free kick. Ronaldo helped Real Madrid equalize after some great skill by Benzema and even greater sloppiness from our defense. Then came the most decisive moment in the match in the second half, courtesy of Luis Saurez.

Enjoy all the goals from last night's 2-1 victory over Real Madrid.

Barcelona Futbol Club, will definitely go in to tomorrow night's Clasico clash with Real Madrid with a definitive advantage. With a point lead at the top of the La Liga table, Barcelona doesn't have to chase this game where as Real Madrid would definitely love to go on top of the table following this match. With only ten matches left after this one in the League both team may have not much leverage left after this. Looking at the remaining fixture both teams have their share of tough matches after it. So any one emerging as a winner in this match will definitely be on the front foot to regain the La Liga title. The first Clasico was a big disappointment for Barca fans and team with the team being taken apart by the Los Blancos. But after the Winter break, the form of both the teams have changed drastically. Barca inspired by Messi is in a roll where as Real Madrid like his talisman Ronaldo is struggling a bit.

Lionel Messi, what can one say!!!! Maniuel Pelligrini summed it up better than anyone - " When Messi gets the ball, he unbalances everything. " Technically that was happening all through the match yesterday. Not only for Manchester City defender also for Barca attackers. Other than that I don't have any explanation for the tons of lost chances apart from the two word "Joe Hart". It's funny Messi ended the two legs the same way - with a feeling of dejection. His opponents also ended the same way. At the Etihad he was destroying the psych of the defending English Premier League players at will but the match ended with a missed penalty and a missed header with an open goal at his mercy. Yesterday also he ended with on his back looking to heaven may be begging the almighty to let him score one past Joe Hart. So we now start with the "Greatest Player Ever" debate especially with the Clasico coming this weekend. Messi has grown lot as a player even mentally in this season as showcased by his post match comments to Canal+ "Not along ago, I was a disaster, Now I’m not going to be a disaster and then suddenly in my best moment."

FC Barcelona jumped to the top of the La Liga Table with a sensational 6-1 victory over Rayo at home. Last night's Real Madrid defeat against Athletic Bilbao gave Barca yet another opportunity to leap over their great rival in La Liga table. They had chances at least twice earlier to goto the top of La Liga but they wasted all of those. Now this time around Barca made no mistake such that. This time we simply blew away Rayo to go ahead. Lionel Messi scored thrice and Luis Saurez scored twice to give Barca the victory.

Last night at the Etihad Stadium in the City of Manchester, Barca showed once again that when they lift their game there won't be much the opposition could do about; may be apart from just playing the part. Luis Enrique's boys went in to this match with a bit of self-doubt; or may be the self-doubt was in the mind of the fans. Either way one cannot deny that the defeat at the hands of Malaga at home would have definitely increased the pressure. So to come out and play such emphatically at the stadium of the defending English Premier League Champions was nothing short of magnificent. Two goals from Luis Saurez, someone who was criticized a bit for lack of goals considering the transfer amount; gave Barca a crucial 2-1 victory. The two away goal advantage will count big time as Manchester City need to win the return leg at the Camp Nou at least with a two goal advantage. But still they may fancy their chances and that would be something the Barca team could have done without. We gave them too many life line. After Outplaying them completely in first half, we somehow allowed them to return in to the game and that resulted in Manchester City's sole goal of the match and then that missed penalty from Messi. Had that gone in, Manchester City would be virtually out of the competition by now.

A number of the times I have been forced to eat my word, but I have to admit here that it never happened to me this quickly. In my last post (Preview to Manchester City vs Barca clash) I wrote how City have conceded ground to Chelsea and us have gained in their respective title race. Now with Chelsea dropping point in England and Barca losing in Spain, we may most probably go in to midweek game with no difference in domestic situation for these teams. Funny enough if Manchester City win tonight we may go into the midweek clash with momentum on their side. Now that's what we call the classic example of "Eat your Word". This was a great opportunity for Barca, which sorely they missed. Going into the game it was a great chance for Barca to go ahead of Real Madrid (even though it would have been temporarily). Now not only we have missed such a chance but most probably looking at Real Madrid extending the lead to four points. That would place our fate in the hands of Real Madrid once again.

Complacency is my enemy. Trent Reznor

Why would I start this article with a quote on Complacency? Because there is no better way to start this discussion in any other way. The sense of confidence this Barca side has been able to instill on us in recent times have raised the belief in the team a lot higher. With such belief comes the danger of complacency. Especially when you are up against a team who could only win one of their last five matches, you are bound to be complacent. Add to this the form of the opposition. The new powerhouse from the city of Manchester has not been in top form in recent matches. Both Manchester City and Barcelona lie in the second position in their respective league. But the similarity start and end there. FC Barcelona has averted a mid-season crisis (which tend to happen in early January of every year) and clawed their way back into the La Liga title fight big time. Meanwhile Manchester City has seen their gap between them and league leaders Chelsea balooning to a whooping seven points. They are already out of FA Cup and League Cup. In such scenario it is natural to bet against Manchester City, but then this game is called the "Game of Glorious Uncertainty" for nothing.
