FC Barcelona signs David Villa for 40 Million Euros

FC Barcelona has completed their first signing of the summer in the form of David Villa from Valencia. THe official FC Barcelona website has broken the story just moments ago. Barca was widely expected to copmplete the signing by Friday. FC Barcelona will pay Valencia 40 million Euros for the prolific Spanish striker. Villa is expected to reach Barcelona on Thursday evening and will undergo mandatory medical tests on Friday morning. We all know these are mere formalities. Villa is expected to sign the deal around Friday afternoon followed by the official presentation to the Camp Nou public. Camp Nou will be open for public during the presentation and trust me we may see scenes similiar to Ibrahimovic signing. Villa will sign a four year deal with an option for a further year. It is not yet known how much Villa will take home at Barca.

This was one transfer which I was looking forward from last season. Villa is expected to fit easily into Barca's playing style. In David Villa, FC Barcelona will have one of the most prolific scorers of all time. David Villa has played in Zaragoza before making a move to Valencia. Villa has not yet won the Pichichi but La Liga's top assisting player in the 2006-07 season. That explains his versatility. David Villa is Spain's current number one choice as a Centre forward. He earned the Golden Boot in Spain's successful Euro 2008 campaign. He now will be looking forward to recreate the magical partnership between Xavi and Iniesta at the club level. He also would be looking forward to weave a magical partnership with the Argentinian sensation, Lionel Messi. I can say now that we have effectively closed the gap following Eto'o departure. There are rumours that the arrival of Villa means exit for Ibrahimovic. I seriously doubt those rumours.

i am just so much happy... i have always loved david. there is no way he can flop like our biggest signing. but Bibin, i seriously oppose the idea of us going for Fabregas unless Xavi will be leaving. We have Thiago and Dos Santos as his replacment. The good news is they were all brought up from the same academy which has ensured the best comes out, so why go chase Fabregas for a fee when u can have one for free. I think what we need is a replacement for Alves.

I'm not very happy with this move. I am thinking of our good boys Pedro and Bojan and I'm thinking of Poor Valencia. We should remember One thing we have always beng proud of is the use of clubs own products. Besides, This move could complicate our attacking line and produce a bad atmosphere in the locker rum “If "Zlatan stays”. However, Now that Villa is here, I think Zlatan, Henry and perhaps Bojan should leave for their own sakes. If Fabigas arrives, Tore and Keita should go as well. These players don’t have the mentality and acceptance of 2008/2009 when Pep had an A team for the important tournaments and a B team for the King's cup. They are big names now and have different attitudes.I hope the manager is capable of handling the balance of concurrence in his team. I also wish Valencia luck, even though it would be very difficult without their excellent footballer David villa. By the way! I don’t understand why Quophi wants Alves to go or be replaced. Alves is the main difference between Reikard’s Barca and the current team.

What we really need at this moment is a cover at the front left position.

koorosh: I think what Quophi means is that he needs a cover for Alves rather than a replacement. It is certain that Bojan will not leave. But the problem is that with Ibra and Villa both in the team Bojan will struggle to get any playing time. If Ibra leaves then its all fine for Bojan as he is the only cover for Villa.

thanks for the clarification there,Bibin. i was takling bout getting a cover up for Alves. cus as at now we don't have a proper right back to take his place..
Bojan shd move to Valencia on loan if ibra is staying cuz Pep will never give him the chance. for Pedro there is no way Ibra can let him sit on the bench, he will definately play ahead of Ibra.

It is kind of weird Barca would sign another attacker when they have two potent ones. Ibra played very well first half of the seaon but after the injury never fully got back into it. Bojan played well second half of the season both completing eachother and filled in when it was needed. Also Barca is not reliant on their front man scoring all the time since they got great strikers on the sides as well. There is nothign saying ;Villa will make a perfect season in Barca. Just like Ibra i think he's used to more balls commign his way and all the gioals go through him, this is not the case in Barca.

Will be interesting to see.

Just read that according to Zlatans manager Barcelona is planning on putting Villa on the left flank taking that possition. If this is correct i do not know bu he said Zlatan won't be leaving and the chief of sports i think it was also said Zlatan won't be leaving if he doesn't want to himself.

i love the signing of villa but i am much concerned with the fact that Toure is not settled yet. I dont want him to leave at all. He is a stronger defensive midfielder than Busquets. He should not be allowed to go. Then i hear about Torres coming, i dont really understand what is happening. I think Ibra should be given another season to prove himself, but Villa shud be the Centre Forward.

with Villa in, there is going to be a lot of competition for Bojan, Pedro and Ibra. Villa will definately fit in with ease.. not doubt
