Iniesta Celebrating scoring against Villareal

FC Barcelona took a huge step to yet another Copa del Rey final with a very well fought 3-1 victory against Villareal. The Yellow submarine who has been in some sensational form recently found themselves at the end of an onslaught from Barca at the Camp Nou. To their credit their tactics was completely different from the team which played against us recently. The idea was to get away from Camp Nou with minimum damage. But Barca boys had completely different plans. Lionel Messi opened the scoring from a delightful Saurez assist, followed by Iniesta and Pique. The only goal for Villareal came from a huge mistake from Barca goal keeper Ter Stegan. To be fair, it is hard to criticize him. He gets very less playing time. May be Enrique needs to immediately decide how he is going to give more playing time to him. Warming up on the bench for most of the time will not help him nor us, especially in Champions League.

Luis Enrique and his boys were not going to let it happen once again. The last time they saw the League leaders Real Madrid drop points, they returned the favour by losing their match also. Luis Enrique had to receive a fair share of criticism for the strategy employed in that match against Celta at the Camp Nou. But everyone knew that he wasn't going to take any chance this time around. The result, a convincing 5-2 victory against Athletic Bilbao at one of the most difficult stadium in La Liga, especially for Barca. A visit to San Mames does not make Barca fans comfortable, actually it throws them around emotionally. This time around there was no such thing. The team was clinical from the start. When Athletic Bilbao started to make a match of the game, the team responded immediately shutting them down and retaining a bigger lead. With this victory Barca has closed down the lead on top to just one point. Real Madrid may still be on top of the league, but Barca very much have their destiny in their own hands.

Highlights from Barca's 3-2 victory against Villareal which helped them stay close to leaders Real madrid and ahead of defending Champions Atletico Madrid. Something strange is happening nowadays with Messi this season. Messi has been scoring so many goals with his weaker right foot this season. Yesternight he raised that one notch up by scoring a sensational Golazo with his right foot.

FC Barcelona secured their place in the Semi-Final of the Copa Del Rey with a sensational 3-2 victory against Atletico Madrid. Barca had to come from behind twice in a sensational first half which saw five goals beings scored at rather frightening pace. Neymar was Barca's star performer scoring twice and the other goal coming from an own goal from Miranda. The match was a fiery affair not only interms of football but also in terms of general conduct. At times the conduct of Simeone's boys were really bad with Turan even finding time to throw his boot at the linesman. But the disgraceful fact was that the referee didn't sent him off for such a big offense. What kind of signal is the RFEF trying to send to the players. This is really bad by the referees and what makes it worse is that it follows the relatively kind two match suspension handed over to Ronaldo for punching, kick and slapping the opponent. The referees needs to get their acts together otherwise considering the history of the clubs in Spain and it's own history, it will soon end up with widespread riots on the streets.

FC Barcelona took a firm step towards Copa Del Rey Semi-Final when they beat Atletico Madrid 1-0 at home. The victory came via a Messi penalty (technically can't be called a penalty goal as his penalty was blocked and he scored from the rebound). The penalty was awarded when Busquets was brought down in the box following a Messi free kick; some could argue that the penalty was a bit soft. But there is no denial that there was contact. The match was a real tight one unlike the recent La Liga encounter between these two teams. Barca should be happy with the way they kept Atletico attack safely isolated. The chances were at premium and the best one fell once again to Saurez who as we seen many time in recent past blasted over.

FC Barcelona consolidated their second position on table with a comfortable victory over defending Champions Atletico Madrid at the Camp Nou last night. The victory came courtesy of goals from our froward trio of Saurez, Neymar and Messi. Messi, who has been the subject matter of all discussion related to Barca in recent weeks produced a marvellous performance. He played an enormous role in all goals that Camnp Nou saw last night, even the one which we conceded through penalty.

FC Barcelona -5, Elche - 0

Even though there is a second leg to be played away from home; Barca's 5-0 victory at home made that just a formality. With the stunning display and result of 5-0, Barca has virtually secured a Quarter Final spot in this season's Copa Del Rey Competition. Barca's Quarter final opponent will be one of the big team from Madrid, either Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid. Atletico looks favourite to face Barca after they defeated Real Madrid 2-0 at home. The victory against Elche has been Barca's first of 2015 and let's hope the winning streak continues. Enjoy the Highlights.

You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time. Abraham Lincoln

The fact that Andoni Zubizarreta managed to stay as FC Barcelona's Director of Football was the biggest joke played on the fans for sometime. Some may argue that the board itself is a bigger joke, we will come to that later! This didn't come as a surprise to many. From the time we went to CAS fro appeal against transfer ban, there were hints that Andoni Zubizarreta would be made a scapegoat if the decision went against the club. The decision went against us and we have our Official Scapegoat. The Board members clearly knows that sacking him helps them to stick to their job for more time, a job for which they have no respect. I am not arguing that Zubizarreta should not have been sacked, I believed firmly that he should have been sacked long ago (Does Andoni Zubizarreta deserves to be Barca's Sporting Director?). I have argued for his sacking a year ago. He was the biggest joke played on Barca fans for sometime. No one had been rewarded like him for simply "Sleeping on the Job" in the history of the Club or even Football in general.

The crisis of today is the joke of tomorrow. H.G.Wells

The Year 2014 ended in a sober note with Court of Arbitration for Sport dismissing FC Barcelona's appeal against a two window transfer ban imposed by FIFA. For many who followed the entire chronicles of event this come has no surprise. Only the extremely optimistic believed that the transfer ban will be revoked or at least reduced. Now with the transfer ban in place Barca cannot sign any players in January 2015 (which we hardly do!) and summer of 2015. The summer transfer ban would be the one which will hurt us a bit. As I wrote earlier, this ban could force the management, who notoriously have a habit of not trusting La Masia, to trust our kids again. If there any other team who could overcome such a transfer ban, then it has to be FC Barcelona. And that's all down to the strength of our recruits at La Masia.

FC Barcelona qualified for the next round of Copa del Rey with a 12-1 aggregate victory over Huesca. The tie was more or less sealed in the first leg when we won 5-0 away from home. But that didn't stop the young turks of Barca from going for the kill.

Barcelona Futbol Club has been paired once again with Manchester City at this season's UEFA Champions League Round of 16 knock-out stage. It's a repeat of last season's face-off, in which a Messi inspired Barca energed comfortable winners. Manchester City struggled through the Group stage but that should not be taken on face value, as on their day they could be quite devastating. Many Cules are actually angry at the constant tough luck being presented on Barca. Once again we got the toughest draw whereas the two Spanish teams from Capita got relatively easier opponents, incidently both German. Schalke vs Real Madrid will be once again a repeat of last season's knowck out stage, and barring any miracle Schalke could get murdered again. Meanwhile Atletico got the other German team, Bayern Leverkusen - a macth they should win without much sweat.

Luis Saurez was the hero of the night when he created two goals which helped Barca to overcome a 1-0 deficit. We were in course for a third consecutive defeat until Saurez turned the creator in chief. The beneficiary of his creativity was Neymar who scored the equaliser and Alba who put Barca in the lead. As expected Neymar and Saurez started from bench against Almeria. In their absence Munir, Pedro partnered Messi up front. Rafinha, Rakitic and Busquets formed the midfield trio. Adriano, Mascherano, Bartra and Alba formed the defense with Bravo taking his usual spot under goal.

Every adversity, every failure, every heartache carries with it the seed on an equal or greater benefit. Napoleon Hill

All the Euphoria about Barca's excellent start to the season has suddenly fizzled out. The unbeaten start, the Goal Keeper who doesn't concede all those stories which regularly found themselves in the front pages have been replaced by a mid-season crisis story. And to an extent we are in a bit of a crisis. That crisis is not a result crisis but more or less an identity crisis. I can't remember when was the last time we found ourselves fourth in the La Liga table. I do remember instances of losing matches twice in a row but failure to score at home also is an event which is so far in memory. Doubts are suddenly creeping into our game, players and more importantly the fan. Everyone fear that this could all end up with that familiar feeling. With Quarter of the season done we suddenly are looking at a repeat of last season's issues. The only positive side from all this is that this is happening pretty early which should give Luis Enrique enough time to rectify, if he chooses to.

Brilliant Lionel Messi goal against Eibar. With this goal Messi have gone to 251 La Liga goals, just one short of all time record.

Highlights from FC Barcelona's victory against a hard working Eibar side. Xavi opened the scoring followed by Neymar and Messi. Messi with yet another assist and goal continued his great start.

Barcelona continued their great run in to the season with a hard won 3-0 victory against the newly promoted Eibar. The match remained goal less for almost an hour, thanks to Eibar's dodgy defense but Barca courtesy of Messi, Xavi and Neymar secured a vital three points going into Clasico. Ahead of the Clasico last next week, Real Madrid threw up a challenge with their 5-0 victory earlier on the night. So everyone was waiting to see how Barca would react? Going in to the Clasico Enrique should be pretty confident because of Neymar's and Messi's form and also most importantly due to the fact that Bravo is yet to concede a goal this season. Luis Enrique gave Mashcerano a rare start in midfield along with Xavi and Sergi Roberto. The defense had Alves, Pique, Mathieu and Alba. Pedro surprisingly despite a string of poor results started along with Messi and Neymar. Iniesta started on the bench while Busquets and Rakitic were rested.
