The newly crowned Spanish La Liga Champion were held to a goal less draw by relegation threatened Deportivo La Coruna at the Camp Nou. That one point could be very crucial for Deportivo's hopes of surviving in the league. This incidently was the first goal less draw of Barca in the league this season. With the League rounded up, this was a great oppurtunity for the fringe players to get some playing time. But the night was all about celebration, doesn't matter whether we win or lose - tonight was the night when the La Liga title is offcially handed over to us. As expected Guardiola rested most of the main stars. Valdes started in goal. The defense infront of him had Marc Batra, Mascherano, Fontas and Abidal. The midfield had Thiago, Jonathan and Keita. The front three was made up of Afellay, Jeffren and Bojan. I have to admit that I would have put Oriol Romeu in the midfield to play in the usual central midfielder role.

As the tradition the Deportivo players formed the usual Guard of Honour to honour the newly crowned La Liga Champions. In 2nd minute Valdes had to come off the line to pull of two brilliant saves to deny Deportivo La Coruna taking the lead. Even with majority of the usual starters missing we were able to easily impose our dominance with possession. Our only shot on target in the early half of first half came from a Jeffren free kick which went high over the bar. In the 17th minute Deportivo forward Valeron had a shot which went wide of Valdes' right post. In the 33rd minute jeffren received ball from Thiago on the left, dribbled past two players but his final attempt was deflected wide for a corner. As expected we dominated the possession throughout the first half but struggled to create any goal scoring oppurtunity. In the 53rd minute Guardiola took off Abidal and Mascherano and brought in Maxwell and Alves. That meant Fontas and Batra formed the central defending pair. In the 58th minute Dos Santos found the overlapping run of Alves on right, who sent in a great cross but it was just out of reach for both Bojan and Jeffren. In the 78th minute Alves saw his free kick from a dangerous position easily being saved by the keeper. In the 82nd minute Jonathan was taken off and was replaced by Oriol Romeu. In the first minute of injury time a sudden counter attack caught us out, but Valdes was once again at hand to save us.

Everyone expected a simlar result from the begining of the match. We were not without many of the stars and the players did really well to win a point. There were some good performances. Dos Santos for me impressed really well. He looks more in the Xavi mould than Thiago, who incidently had a average night. Afellay was the one who was always instilling some space and spark but he also failed to find that crucial final ball. Fontas was again solid in defense and did really well at the centre back role. But this match was not about win or lose or draw, it was all about the trophy presentation. It was really a proud moment when the Trophy was handed over to Puyol and Xavi. Way to go, brothers....
