It has been a tough 18 months for Barcelona and after a difficult start to the 2020/21 campaign, the big concern for the Catalan club is that this season is going to end in a similar way.

New manager Ronald Koeman has not had the start he would have been looking for, which means that Barca are going to have to play catch up. Despite all the doom and gloom, we have decided to look at some positives which will hopefully keep spirits up for those who follow the most prestigious club in the world.

Juve Win Proves They Can Still Compete with Big Clubs

Although domestic results have been hit and miss, the one big victory which stands out for Barcelona so far this season is their success in Italy against Juventus in the Champions League.

After being embarrassed by Bayern Munich last season in the quarter-final of the competition, questions were being asked about whether Barca could cut it any more with the big teams in Europe. Their 2-0 win in Turin proves they can.

The Champions League is such an important competition for Barcelona. Surprisingly they have not won it since 2015. This latest victory will give them confidence that they can go all the way.

Ansu Fati

It is easy to forget sometimes that Ansu Fati is just 18 years old. The youngster continues to develop and is now a crucial member of the first team at the Nou Camp.

Fati has scored five goals in his opening 10 games in all competitions this season. His confidence is growing, so expect that strike-rate to rise over the next few months.

In many games this season, Fati has been keeping Ousmane Dembele out of the team. Koeman has kept with the hot hand in Fati and he has rewarded his manager with some excellent performances.

The future is going to be very bright for Barcelona with Fati in the team. Once he gains some more experience, there are no limits to the level he could reach in the game.

Fati is already a part of the Spanish senior team now. He is expected to feature for Spain at Euro 2020 next summer where they are 7/1 in the international football betting to lift the trophy.

Messi Could Commit His Future

It was only a few months ago that it looked as though Lionel Messi’s career at Barcelona was set to come to a crashing halt. The magician announced he wanted to leave the club, which sent shock waves through Barca supporters.

Thankfully, Messi remained with the club. His body language so far this season has been very professional. He also looks happy again to be playing in a Barca shirt. All of this opens the door to the prospect of Messi signing a new deal which will see him retire at the club.

The Argentine would love to win more trophies in the final few years of his career and they can come with Barcelona. As long as the club can convince him that they have a plan for success, the final chapter in his career may still be at Barca.

Hopefully, there are more positives as the season unfolds and, at the end of it, Barca have some silverware to celebrate.
