  • Barca extended their winning streak to four match against Getafe.
  • Lionel Messi, came in second ahlf and scored two goals..

FC Barcelona kept on with their perfect start into the La Liga season with a brilliant 4-1 victory against getafe away from home. Adriano opened the scoring in first half and second half substitutes Messi and Villa made it a comfortable victory. Incidently the Getafe goal was an unfortunate own goal from another substitute Javier Mascherano. The line-up selected by Tito surprised many. Technically it has to be said that Jordi was in charge as Tito was serving his two match ban. Vilanova deicded to give Montoya his first start of the season. So he started at the right back of defense with Puyol and Pique partnering in the middle and Adriano on the left. The midfield saw Xavi and Busquetsa start along with Thiago, who was declared fit to play last week. No one expected him to get his start here. Tello and Pedro joined with Cesc Fabregas at the front line of attack. The substitute bench had Pinto, Mascherano, Alves, Villa, Song, Messi and Deulofeu.

Barcelona lined up in the strange looking orange-yellow away kit(Get you favorite Football Accessories at Samba Goals). In the 4th minute Fabregas released Tello on the left, who raced past his defender but his final shot was saved well by the keeper. In the 26th minute Thiago skipped his way through into the box but was very unfortunate to see his shot hit the bar. In the 28th minute Adriano saw his shot from inside the box deflected over for a corner. In the 30th minute Xavi fired a shot from outside the box, but it didn't had the power to test the keeper. In the 32nd minute Barca broke the deadlock through Adriano after some brilliant piece of work by Fabregas. Fabregas ran into the box sliding past two players and Adriano was in the right place to take it on. In the 34th minute Tello lifetd a ball to Thiago in the box, who brought it down but the keeper made a brilliant save to deny Thiago at the near post. In the 39th minute Valdes was forced to make a half clearance from a free kick, luckily for us Adriano was at hand to clear any danger from rebound. We did have a decent first half and a 1-0 scoreline going into the break was great.

In the 48th minute a Xavi free kick went agonisingly close to Fabregas who timed his run perfectly breaking the offside trap. In the 55th minute Tello tried to curl a shot from outside the box but was a bit wide of the far post. In the 56th minute Mascherano had to be brought in for an injured Puyol, who appeared to twist his knee. In the 58th minute Getafe keeper made another brilliant save to deny once again Tello, who was put through by a well taken throw in. In the 59th minute Messi came in for Thiago, that meant Cesc moved back into midfield. In the 66th minute Messi was brought down clearly in the box, but the referee waved for a corner. In the 68th minute Pedro saw his attempt at goal saved by the keeper. In the 73rd minute Pedro won Barca a penalty after he was tripped inside the box by Valera. Messi scored from the spot to make it 2-0 for Barca. In the 75th minute Tello was taken off for David Villa. In the 78th minute Lionel Messi secured the match for Barca when he latched on to a good cross by Montoya, which took a deflection into Messi's path. In the 80th minute Getafe crawled back into the game when a deflected shot from Sarabia found his way into the net. It was serious bad luck, the shot was straight at Valdes, but took a deflection off Adriano's leg, hit Mascherano's face and into the goal. In the 85th minute Xavi had a shot which went just wide off the far post. In the 91st minute Villa made it 4-1 when he finished from a brilliant Cesc Fabregas lofted ball.

Don't be fooled by the scoreline, this one was a very tough task. The good thing was that the boys sticked to it and got it done, in the end very comfortabley. Cesc Fabregas for me was the Man of the Match. He made the first goal and was involved very much in other creative oppurtunities created by Barca. Tello once again showed why he is the preferred player by Tito. His pace is too good for most of the full back, but it gave an impression he would do much better with a normal number 10 than a false 9.
