Will Barcelona's Footballing Identity Survive the Valverde Era? Or will it be History!

Ernesto Valverde, has been a disaster for Barcelona so far. The back to back titles doesn't hide the fact that he is destroying what used to be Barcelona's playing style slowly but surely!

The Legend, Johan Cruyff would be turning in his grave seeing what has happened to his beloved club. The possession football, the Total football he instilled in the team with the 'La Masia' youth academy and the Golden Generation of the Club is nowhere to be seen. Valverde's team plays a style which is unrecognizable for many of the fans and most of the legendary players.

Barcelona's identity was based on the 'Total Football'. That's what the kids are drilled down from the moment they step into the academy. That's what we look in for players when we splash huge sum at them. Unfortunately, Valverde is chipping away every trace of that identity from this team. His mission of turning Barcelona into an average La Liga side is very much in progress.

Lionel Messi crowned FIFPro Best Men's Player

Lionel Messi won the inaugural FIFPro Best Men's player 2019 beating tough competition from Van Dijk and Cristiano Ronaldo. This was the first individual award he has won since 2015, something he himself has been upset about.

Barcelona's Captain was crowned the inaugural FIFPro Best Male player of the World by FIFA last night in an event in Milan. Messi who has been really unlucky to have missed in last few season's was indeed very happy having it won after a long hiatus of four years.

Lionel Messi was nothing short of sensational in last season and the choice of him seems absolutely perfect. With this award, Messi has now won Six FIFA Best player awards, most by any players.

Will Valverde Really be able to Solve Barcelona's Latest Footballing Crisis?

Valverde appears to have run out of ways he could make this teamwork. He is not capable to solve the defensive crisis nor the offensive ones. He appears totally clueless and with this continuing encouragement of an equally clueless Board, he may finally succeed in destroying Barcelona's football identity for once and for all!

It may appear too dramatic to term what's going on in and around the team as a 'Footballing Crisis'. But for those who have been following the team for years, this has been nothing short of a 'Crisis of Identity'. For many, it has become so difficult even to understand the kind of football we are playing. It has no resemblance to what we knew and what we were known for.

Gone are those days of 'Tiki-Taka'! Forget 'tiki-taka', these are the days when we are forced to applause if the team is about to place four or more passes in the attacking third. The immense pressing game in not be seen, in fact, that's what opposition regularly employs against us and we just self-destruct. That's a tale of 'A Taste of Your Own medicine'.
