Football, or soccer for our overseas readers, is the most popular sport in the world. Affectionately referred to the ‘Beautiful Game’, football is enjoyed in countries all over the globe. There are, without doubt, some truly amazing football teams now competing in various leagues and tournaments. When it comes to the top 3 teams in the world, however, the vast majority of you reading this would surely agree that FC Barcelona are definitely up there.

Barcelona, along with Real Madrid, are probably considered one of the top 2 teams in Spain, and they have been dominating La Liga, the Champions League, and other tournaments such as the Copa Del Rey, for many, many decades now. Real Madrid was clearly the better side on the pitch at the Camp Nou but was unable to make that decisive touch to take home that edge. Barcelona meanwhile played second fiddle, as expected under Valverde.

Barcelona Holds a Resurgent Real Madrid to Draw at Home

FC Barcelona - 0 | Real Madrid - 0

In the end the results barely surprised anyone. This was the first goalless draw in a Clasico in 17 years, and that match was at least more significant. It was the return of the traitor 'Luis Figo' to Camp Nou, a match that will be remembered for the 'Pig Head'!

Despite all the struggles they faced this season, Barcelona have been quite formidable at home, thanks to one guy named 'Lionel Messi'. Will that be enough for them to trump Real Madrid tonight?

Barcelona Starts as Favourites in the First Clasico of the Season

Real Madrid and Barcelona had more or less a similar kind of season so far. They struggled together, showed glimpses of improving at times, then in the very next match they dashed all those hopes. Valverde's Barcelona lies top of the table courtesy of the goal difference and assisted by Real Madrid with their inconsistency in no less measure.

So When a Barcelona who is being coached by a clueless Valverde and an inconsistent Real Madrid collide tonight at the Camp Nou, everything is up for the grabs. Barcelona would start as a slight favorite due to the home advantage and also having Messi in their ranks. But the game is well balanced due to their defensive fragility!
