Cesc Fabregas dedicating Goal to Daughter

FC Barcelona kept on with their march to the La Liga title with a 1-0 victory at home against Levante. We did left it pretty late with the deciding goal from Cesc Fabregas coming in the 84th minute. The scoreline did not exactly tell the story of the game as we dominated it from the beginning. We were sloppy in the second half, but Vilanova was smart enough to make the necessary substitution in order to secure the important three points. With this win we remain thirteen points clear of Real madrid and will require only two more wins to secure the league title. People were expecting that Messi would get some playing time today. But the medical team never gave him the green light. As per the medical team Messi is only 70% match fit. Vilanova went with the usual 4-3-3 formation. Abidal made his first official start after coming out from injury, and that was the greatest news for Barca fans. We had Alves, Abidal, Adriano and Montoya in defense. Thiago, Song and Iniesta made the midfield trio. Tello, Cesc and Villa formed the front attacking trio. Xavi, Batra, Alba, Busquets, Pinto, Pedro and Alexis started on the bench. Pique and Dos Santos didn't make the final squad.

We started the game establishing our usual normal possession advantage. In the 13th minute Tello broke into the box and send in a looped cross, Thiago met it with a header which was easily caught by Levante keeper. In the 16th minute we were awarded a penalty after Iniesta went down in the pitch. It was a poor decision and the keeper made the save from Villa's penalty kick, so you could say that justice was done. In the 19th minute Iniesta released Tello on the left with a brilliant pass, Tello's cross was cleared by the defender before it could find Villa. After the initial ten minutes we made a smart switch with Villa playing in center and Cesc playing behind him. That was creating a bit of space for Iniesta to exploit. In the 24th minute Iniesta tried a curler from outside the box, but it was too close to the keeper. In the 33rd minute Thiago picked up Tello brilliantly on the left but his shot could only hit the side netting. In the 34th minute Dani Alves saw a brilliant long range free kick saved even more brilliantly by Levante keeper. In the 40th minute Villa saw his brilliant volley blocked by the Levante defender. In the 44th minute David Villa had another brilliant volley saved by the Levante keeper. The first half stats were simply amazing - we had 12 shots and six of them were on target. But the crucial stats was missing - The Goals.

The second half started in a bit of contrast - we were struggling to control the game and Levante were having a much better say in proceeding compared to the first. We were pretty casual in our approach also. Levante had two good moves but was ruled offside and they were pretty tight. In the 60th minute Vilanova made his first change bringing in Xavi Hernandez for Andres Iniesta. The idea was definitely would have been to give Iniesta a rest ahead of Champions League semi-final. In the 67th minute Pedro came in for Thiago. In the 77th minute Sanchez came in for Tello, who was pretty poor with his first touch throughout the match. In the 84th minute we finally managaed to break the deadlock through Cesc Fabregas. Sanchez once again was the provider for Cesc, these two are having some brilliant chemistry between them. In the 88th minute Cesc Fabregas had a decent shot blocked by the defender and Pedro's attempt from the rebound was saved by the Levante keeper.
